Solo for Slide Whistle and Computer, 2024
Conceived as an archaic counterpart to a sine sweep, the whistle’s familiar, cartoonish voice is stretched and reimagined into something meditative and faintly monumental. Its range extends into sub-bass depths through pedal-controlled ring modulation, while moments within its glissandi are suspended and harmonized by automated granular sampling, all realized within a cue-based Max/MSP patch. This piece was premiered in October 2025 at Harvestworks, New York.
